Mariposa Sketches is loosely based on ‘Sunshine sketches of a little town’ by one of Canada’s favourite authors, Stephen Leacock. Leacock had a summer home in Orillia, Ontario (a.k.a. Mariposa) and his descriptions of town life around the turn of the century are full of affectionate whimsy and humour.
